Recent op-ed pieces suggesting that the Biden campaign is desperate to have pop star Taylor Swift publicly endorse the current president should serve as a wake-up call to all Americans (“Biden’s pathetic plea for Taylor Swift vote a warning to Trump,” web, Feb. 3). They should cause us to revisit the constitutional amendment that gave all 18-year-olds the right to vote in federal elections.

The justification for that amendment, if there ever was one, has long passed, since the drafting of 18-year-olds ended many years ago. A new amendment should continue that privilege only for 18-year-olds who are active-duty military personnel.
